Workshops
Art provides a myriad of ways to engage with our environment, our experiences, and our memories. Perhaps the best form is the sketchbook, which allows a flexible recording of a particular moment in time, and the thoughts and reflections that accompany it.
Using a sketchbook we will engage directly with the waters that run through the Salt Lake Valley. We will be introduced to different mediums including pastels, pencils, and collage and learn how to use them as a means of recording our thoughts and experiences in the current moment, the past, and the future, with water as the connecting motif.
Recordings and Sound Installation
The sketchbook will serve as a basis to share our thoughts through recordings taken during the workshop. These personal reflections will be mixed with recordings of the actual streams that run through the valley and presented as a sound installation in the Seven Canyons Refuge at Liberty Park in October 2025. Additionally, the recordings will be saved as an archive which will be available online.
